The St. Andrew's Society of Pittsburgh held it's first official function on January 23, 1991 - a Robert Burns Dinner, attended by it's 35 charter members at Froggy's Restaurant. In the years since that dinner, the society has participated in an ever-increasing number of events that further the preservation and observation of our Scottish heritage and it's traditions.
Each year the society provides scholarships to young local pipers, drummers and highland dancers to assist in their development and to promote their Scottish art form. There are over 100 (paid) members, and a mailing list of about 250. To become a voting member, applicants must be able to trace their ancestry back to someone who lived in Scotland.
Membership is now open to anyone, and everyone is welcome to participate in any of our events, whether or not they are a member of The St. Andrew's Society. See our Coming Events pages to set your calendar.
Our Mission Statement:
"The mission of The St. Andrew's Society of Pittsburgh is
to preserve and promote Scottish heritage and traditions through
educational, philanthropic, and social endeavors,
primarily in the greater Pittsburgh area."
